A Statement of Solidarity and Commitment from HNA

On behalf of the Historians of Netherlandish Art, I want to express our sympathy and support for all those who are feeling fear and anxiety as a result of the appalling rise of anti-Asian violence in the United States – more than 3,000 incidents by one estimate, including the horrific murders in Atlanta last week – and anti-Asian discrimination elsewhere in the world.  We owe our colleagues of Asian descent a great debt of thanks for their many contributions to HNA; their lives touch ours in innumerable ways.  We pledge our solidarity and support, and promise to work harder to fight bigotry and systemic racism wherever we encounter them.

-Walter Melion, President of HNA
