Free, and open to the public. The American Friends of the Mauritshuis is delighted to present a lecture by Ellen Nigro, the 2018 recipient of the Fulbright-AFMh Grant, awarded annually to an outstanding American graduate student in paintings conservation. During her year as the 2018-2019 Fulbright-AFMh Grant recipient, Ms. Nigro studied and conserved paintings in the Mauritshuis collection. Her talk will focus on the research aspects of her main project, a Fruit Still Life by Cornelis de Heem. She will also highlight activities she completed at the University of Amsterdam as part of her Mauritshuis internship. Immediately following the lecture, there will be a short reception until 7:15pm.
A ticketed lecture and reception on The Goldfinch by Carel Fabritius, with Mauritshuis Director Emilie Gordenker and Metropolitan Museum of Art Assistant Curator Adam Eaker immediately follows next door at The Explorers Club starting at 7:30 pm.
