Boston University Online Lecture by Christopher Atkins, Director of MFA’s Center for Netherlandish Art

Christopher Atkins, Director of the MFA’s Center for Netherlandish Art, presents “Reframing Dutch and Flemish Art at the MFA’s Center for Netherlandish Art: Issues of Globalization and Legacies of Capitalism” on Wednesday, October 13, 6:00-7:00 pm EST on Zoom for the Department of Art & Architecture, Boston University.

This fall the MFA launches the Center for Netherlandish Art with a reinstalled suite of galleries for Dutch and Flemish art. Christopher Atkins, Van Otterloo-Weatherbie Director of the CNA, will preview the galleries that take a visual culture approach that foregrounds issues of globalization and legacies of capitalism alongside art historical concerns. He also will address the goals, strategies, and initial programs of the CNA that, in conjunction with the new galleries, seek to articulate the relevance and vitality of the historical material for our present and our future.
