The Nomination Sub-Committee of HNA invites nominations for the positions of Board Members to begin a four-year term in March 2026.
Board member responsibilities include attendance at two board meetings annually, generally held over Zoom in March and October, and participation in one or more subcommittee of the board. Board members are expected to attend the triennial conference of HNA and encouraged to attend HNA-sponsored sessions and receptions at the annual conferences of the College Art Association and the Renaissance Society of America. Board members discuss and vote on the administration of HNA’s budget, overarching issues of the organization’s activities, future locations of its conference, and disposition of its sponsored sessions at affiliated conferences. Based on involvement in subcommittees, board members may participate in the distribution of HNA Fellowships, administration of the HNA Mentorship Program, management of the organization’s websites, liaising with other professional organizations like RSA, and other issues and events as pertinent. In addition to consulting with leadership of the Journal of Historians of Netherlandish Art (JHNA), they are charged with upholding the bylaws of the organization and, when circumstances dictate, considering any necessary amendments. Departing board members oversee the election process for new board members. The term of office for all board positions is four years.
For more information on the duties of the Board Member of HNA, please refer to Article III of the HNA by-laws. Current HNA officers and board members are listed here.
HNA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to its board. We encourage nominations and self-nominations of members of any background. As an international organization, HNA seeks board members who represent its diverse community both within and beyond the United States. Graduate student nominations are also encouraged.
Nominations and self-nominations are welcome. Please send a brief paragraph describing the candidate’s qualifications, along with an updated CV, to Jessica Keating (jkeating@carleton.edu), Marsely Kehoe (marselykehoe@gmail.com), Lizzie Marx (lmarx@ngi.ie), and Tine Luk Meganck (tine.meganck@vub.be) (Board Members 2022–2026). Questions and inquiries about the positions may also be directed to them. Nominations are due by Friday, February 6.
The ballot will be announced and online voting by proxy will take place after this given deadline. Proxy votes will be cast at the online annual Members Meeting. Any HNA member who did not cast a vote online by proxy will have an opportunity to vote at the Members Meeting. Further information on the ballot will be circulated in the new year. The new terms for the elected board members will begin at the subsequent HNA Board Meeting, in March.
