On Tuesday 20 April 2020 (16:30-17:45 CEST), CODART will organize an online CODARTfocus meeting on the occasion of the Slavery exhibition at the Rijksmuseum. Hereby we invite you to register for this online event. This event is open to CODART members only.
With this exhibition, the Rijksmuseum focuses for the first time on slavery in the Dutch colonial period, that spanned from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. Ten personal stories from people who were involved in slavery are presented through various objects, paintings and archival sources, as well as through oral sources, poems and music.
During the online CODARTfocus, the four exhibition curators Valika Smeulders (Head of the History department), Eveline Sint Nicolaas (Curator of History), Maria Holtrop (Curator of History) and Stephanie Archangel (Junior Curator of History) will elaborate on their roles in the organization and preparations of the exhibition. The panel will be available for questions and participants are invited to share their thoughts and experiences as well.
