The Kunsthalle Bremen has an opening for a curator of prints and drawings with a focus on Old Masters (1400-1800). The deadline for applications is 20 October 2022.
The Kunsthalle Bremen, one of the oldest museums in Germany, holds a collection of 200.000 drawings and prints, with a focus on old German and Dutch masters, French and German nineteenth–century prints, German Expressionism, Picasso and computer graphics. In the course of the Kunsthalle’s major expansion and renovation in 2011, the exhibition and storage spaces for the Collection of Prints and Drawings were doubled. In recent years, the Collection of Prints and Drawings has attracted a great deal of attention through a large number of exhibitions, a new series of publications and the digitization of its collections. An active circle of friends supports its work.
The museum is looking for a curator to further develop and expand the national and international profile of the Kunsthalle Bremen and the Collection of Prints and Drawings in the years to come. The ideal candidate has an excellent reputation within the art historical community and experience in curating and organizing exhibitions, catalogue publishing, cataloguing and digitization, collection management and education. The curator will be responsible for the drawings and prints from the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries. Interdisciplinary work across these areas, an interest in contemporary art and also the curating of major special exhibitions is expected
