Dear HNA Members:
There are numerous sessions at RSA focusing in one way or another on Netherlandish art. One such session is “Hermeneutics of Trompe-l’Oeil,” chaired by Anne Bloemacher, with papers by Walter Melion (“Trompe-l’Oeil Mirrors of the Soul in Jan David, SJ’s Duodecim specula (Twelve mirrors) of 1610”), Robert Fucci (“Vermeer Reconsidering Trompe-l’Oeil in Dresden’s Woman Reading a Letter”), and Yannis Hadjinicolaou (“Hoods and Lures: Cornelis Gijsbrechts’s (Falconry) Trompe-l’Oeil”).
The session takes place on Wednesday, 4:30-6:00 PM, at the Convention Centre-EcoCem Room (2nd floor) (click here for the online conference schedule). If you have organized a Netherlandish-themed session or are giving a paper, please send a brief message to the HNA Administrator (administrator@hnanews.org), listing your name, the session or paper title, and the day, place, and time, and we’ll post the information on the HNA website early next week.
Kind regards,
Walter Melion
President, HNA
