HNA Dissertation Forum: December 2024
Call for Submission
The Historians of Netherlandish Art will host the next online dissertation forum on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, 12:00-1:30 (EST). Designed for graduate students whose dissertation topics have been approved by their respective departments, the forum will feature up to four 10-minute presentations followed by time for comments and queries from the audience. The student presentation should summarize the topic and major research questions, identify the primary archival sources (both visual and textual), and situate the project in relation to the relevant scholarship. The student also could use some of the time to share any sticking points or problems encountered thus far in the planning or research of the topic. The event is an opportunity to receive useful feedback from a collegial group of scholars including the Dissertation Forum organizers and the HNA Mentorship Program Committee. Students working on the dissertation project at an early stage of research and writing in the first two years of dissertation work are eligible to apply.
Please send a prospectus to Walter Melion (walter.melion@emory.edu) and/or Ashley West (ashley.west@temple.edu). The prospectus should be submitted in a single pdf and include the dissertation title and a one-paragraph abstract, a short-form C.V. (1-2 pages), and a brief letter from the primary faculty advisor certifying that the dissertation topic has been approved. The deadline for submission of these materials for review by the selection committee is Friday, November 15.
