The Historians of Netherlandish Art will host the next online dissertation forum on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, 12:00-1:30 (EST). Designed for graduate students whose dissertation topics have been approved by their respective departments, the forum will feature three 10-minute presentations followed by Q & A. The student presentation should summarize the topic and major research questions, identify the primary archival sources (both visual and textual), and situate the project in relation to the relevant scholarship. The event is an opportunity to receive useful feedback on the dissertation project at an early stage of research and writing. Students in the first two years of dissertation work are eligible to apply.
Please send a prospectus either to Walter Melion (walter.melion@emory.edu) and/or Ashley West (ashley.west@temple.edu). The prospectus should be submitted in a single pdf and include the dissertation title and a one-paragraph abstract, a short-form C.V. (1-2 pages), and a brief letter from the dissertation superviser[s] certifying that the dissertation topic has been approved. The deadline for submission of these materials has been extended to April 15.
