The Department of Art History at The Pennsylvania State University seeks to appoint a visiting assistant professor of the history of architecture, chronological and geographical specialization open. The appointment will begin on August 1, 2022 and carry the possibility of renewal for a second year. Teaching duties will include a large (200+ students) introductory survey of the history of architecture before 1400. Teaching duties could also include a one-semester survey of architectural history since 1400, and broadly-trained specialists of modern or contemporary architecture are also encouraged to apply. The anticipated course load is 2-2 with service to the department and an active research agenda expected. Preference will be given to candidates who have a PhD in the history of art or architecture or a related discipline. Candidates who are ABD will be considered. MA in the history of art or architecture or related field is required. All applications must include a CV, the names and contact information for three references, and a letter of application. Your letter of application must address how equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging relate to your academic experience and/or aspirations.
