Applications are sought for a Kress pre/postdoctoral fellowship for academic year 2023–2024 to contribute to the digital art history project, the Dutch Textile Trade Project (www.dutchtextiletrade.org). The fellow will assist with transcription and translation of Dutch primary sources related to the textile trade, and the organization and addition of these data to our structured dataset. We seek a scholar (either advanced graduate student or PhD) who has familiarity with the Dutch language (fluency not required), and some experience with 17th/18th century paleography, or a willingness to learn. Our aim is that this will be an opportunity for a scholar to develop skills in digital art history.
This is considered a part-time, non-benefits eligible position with a set term of September 1, 2023 to May 30, 2024.
This is a 50% time position (approx. 20 hours/week for 9 months, or 720 hours), and is not benefit-eligible. The fellow will be based in the United States, and must be eligible to work in the United States, however the position is entirely remote. There is no expectation of in-person meetings or work, although if possible, we hope there is an opportunity to connect in person at some point during the fellowship.
