Join the New Netherland Institute and the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society for the launch of the new online database, “Voyages of New Netherland,” a searchable, primary source-based directory of more than 300 ship voyages to New Netherland (1609–1664). The event takes place on-line on Tuesday, Nov. 17th, 5pm EST.
The session will feature an introduction by the project developer, Julie van den Hout, followed by a discussion with Charles Gehring of the New Netherland Research Center and Stephen McErleane of the New Netherland Institute. Learn how the database will aid future research on New Netherland and also how viewing New Netherland through the stories of these ships adds a new dimension to our understanding of the colony. A live Q & A with the audience will follow the pre-recorded presentation and conversation.
This live event is free and open to the public. Click here to register.
This project was funded by a Charles W. Wendell Research Grant from the New Netherland Institute.
