This exhibition of Gerrit van Honthorst’s Adoration of the Shepherds (1622) displays the work following an extensive conservation campaign, which also produced new research on the painting. Researchers discovered that the original painting was significantly larger, and the canvas was trimmed in 1940, possibly to accommodate a new frame. A small catalogue in the Wallraf in Fokus series accompanies the exhibition.
